Troubleshooting: Proposal Stage Missing or "No Proposal Found" Error

What to check when a deal can't move into the Proposal stage, or shows a "No proposal found" error.

Written by Emilie

If a rep tries to move a deal into the Proposal stage and gets a "No proposal found" message, or the Proposal stage doesn't appear at all, this is almost always a deal template configuration issue rather than a problem with the specific deal.

Common Causes

  1. A required question earlier in the deal template hasn't been answered. Many deal templates use conditional logic ("Visible When" / "Disable When" rules — see Creating Questions in a Deal Template) to control when the Proposal stage becomes available. If a required question on an earlier stage — often on the Sales Team Site Survey or PreQualification stage — is left blank, the Proposal stage can stay fully locked with no visible error.

  2. The deal template's "blocker" questions have been edited or removed. If a deal template revision removes or changes the question(s) that gate the Proposal stage, deals on that template can lose the ability to create a proposal entirely, even with everything else complete.

How to Resolve

Step 1 — Check every stage before Proposal on the deal for an unanswered required question (look for a red asterisk or incomplete status).

  • Questions can be marked as required in the conditional logic without being marked required (indicated with a red *). In this case, ensure all questions prior to the greyed out stage are answered

Step 2 — If everything upstream looks complete, check the deal template's revision history under Settings > Deal > Deal Templates for a recent change to the Proposal-gating question(s).

Step 3 — If you can't identify the blocking question, contact Enerflo Support with the deal link. Support can inspect the deal template's conditional logic and, if needed, manually unlock the Proposal stage or restore the correct configuration.
